Translation Services

Tessera BV provides a wide spectrum of professional translation services to high quality standards at competitive rates. Where possible, we do this using the skills of the in-house team: native speakers of three different languages and able to handle several more, we can provide a number of combinations directly. Where other skills are required, we can call on other freelance translators we keep in touch with.
We translate material covering a wide range of subjects: the majority of general texts, manuals, contracts, business letters, reports and presentations demand a broad range of competences and common sense rather than highly detailed specific knowledge. For highly specialized legal work, for example, we would bring in a specialist or refer you to one, rather than tackling it ourselves. But we have our own strengths too, of course, and some of these are listed below.

Specialist fields

Tessera was started up by Mike Wilkinson, focusing initially on his expertise: the world of information technology, in which he worked for over fifteen years as a programmer, designer, project leader, department manager and consultant, and medical translations, relying on his degree in Natural Sciences and subsequent work in the pharmaceuticals industry. With the addition of Clare Wilkinson to the team, we now also handle financial translations and other work drawing on her degrees in economics and statistics and experience in the fields of pensions and insurance, and as a business consultant in the healthcare sector.

Profile

Tessera currently has a client base of over two hundred clients, around half of them recently active and not one-offs, in numerous countries throughout the world. Many of these customers are larger agencies, which of course immediately shows you that the quality we can provide within our fields is every bit as good as the bigger players - we're the people they themselves call on! Even larger bureaus only employ a few translators: the bulk of the work is outsourced to smaller groups and freelancers like us. It is why we can genuinely state that we regularly do work for big companies that are household names: international end users include BMW, Mercedes, IBM, Philips, Pfizer, Roche; major Dutch end users include Shell, NS (railways), Corus (steel), ING Bank and ABN AMRO Bank. The list of direct clients includes everything from chemicals companies in Japan to construction services, universities and consultancy companies in the Netherlands and web designers in Austria. As with the agencies, the return rate is extremely high: the top twenty clients overall have given us an average of over one hundred and fifty jobs to date (November 2011) - what better proof of quality and competitiveness could you ask for?

We have accumulated a database of over four thousand translation jobs totalling around ten million words of material that we have translated ourselves, much of which is available for reference and re-use through the computerized tools we use.
